New Delhi, Nov 20 (ANI): Argentina elected right-wing libertarian Javier Milei as its new president on November 19. Official results showed Milei with nearly 56% versus just over 44% for his rival, Sergio Massa. The result once again caught pollsters off guard who had predicted a closer race. Argentines rolled the dice for an outsider to get rid of looming recession, rising poverty. They exuded their confidence in elected libertarian Javier Milei to fix the country’s economy. During election campaign, Milei had pledged ‘Economic Shock Therapy’ to fix Argentina's economy. ‘Economic Shock Therapy’ includes shutting central bank, ditching peso, and slashing spending. Notably, enormous challenges await 53-year-old economist as he has to creak with $44 bn debt from IMF. Milei’s win shaked up Argentina’s political landscape, economic roadmap and could impact trade in grains, lithium. President-elect is a strong critic of China, Brazil and during campaign, Milei said that he won’t deal with “communists”.
